Transfusion medicine

The transfusion chain begins with donor considerations (whether their donation is safe for them to make and whether the donation is safe for any patient to receive). Transfusion medicine is a multidisciplinary field and as such our program offers research opportunities in molecular and structural immunology, genetics, coagulation, stem cell biology, gene therapy, cellular engineering, and microbiology. The program is approved by Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education and supported by an NIH T32 Training Grant for Transfusion Medicine Research. Several related topics, including immunohematology, transfusion support, hemostasis, cell therapy, apheresis & patient blood management will be included. Enhance your knowledge of transfusion medicine with the technical and medical experts of NYBCe in a convenient virtual format! Transfusion Medicine offers comprehensive information on the full range of topics from transfusion therapies, novel cellular therapies, donor recruitment, blood collection and storage, to testing and techniques for transfusing blood components, complications and transmissible diseases, as well as, therapeutic apheresis and the role of hematopoietic growth factors.
